Eligible drivers should begin the BDIC well before the deadline to ensure it can be completed before the deadline. Course Details This Course may be taken by Internet, Video, or in a Live class format.
The course completion deadline is listed on the notice of eligibility. Eligible drivers have 60 days to arrange for and successfully complete the BDIC. The BDIC serves as a refresher of basic traffic safety principles. The 4 hour Basic Driving Improvement (BDI) or (DDS) class is the most common traffic course in Florida for many traffic rules violations. The course is typically taken as an 'Election Option' to receive an 18 discount on your fine, to keep points off your record and avoid a court appearance. The Secretary of State will not make the points or information from the ticket available to insurance companies for drivers who successfully complete the BDIC through an approved sponsor. The 4 Hour Basic Driver Improvement course (BDI class) is the most common traffic school taken by drivers in Florida who have received a traffic ticket. The Basic Driver Improvement Course program permits eligible drivers to take a driver improvement course, either on-line or in a classroom.
